Join Oak Spring Garden Foundation (OSGF) and Piedmont Fox Hounds Conservation Fund (PFHCF) for an afternoon out on the landscape exploring the cultural, historical, and ecological aspects that make this region in Virginia so unique. The event will consist of self-guided walking tours through planted native meadows and old fields where attendees will learn from local experts about: the history of foxhunting and how it helped shape the landscape we see today, the Civil War skirmishes surrounding Oakley and the experience of the family there during the war, wildlife habitats and local ecology, and how current management can support recreation along with biodiversity conservation.
