Rokeby Farm and Oak Spring Garden Fall Tours

Overview:

Come see Oak Spring Garden's Biocultural Conservation Farm (BCCF) and Rokeby Wildlife Garden in its early autumn glory. The BCCF supports our on-site programs and local food banks. Learn about all they are growing – from Appalachian heirloom crop varieties to natural fiber and dye plants. New this year at the Rokeby Farm will be exciting interactive demonstrations, food provided by local food trucks from 11:00 - 3:00pm and live music from 11:00 - 2:00pm by a local band for all to enjoy. Explore all they have to offer while walking through the vegetable fields and wildlife garden which features native plants that support biodiversity.

On the Little Oak Spring portion of the property guests will have the opportunity to take a self-guided stroll through Bunny Mellon's Garden and learn more about the history of the landscape through several exhibits that will be on display. Selections from "Fantastic Flora" a digital educational exhibit that blends art, culture, history, and science to explore the role of plants in both human history and the natural world will be featured. Also on display is "Abundant Future: Cultivating Diversity in Garden, Farm & Field" from The Fourth New York Botanical Garden's Triennal with the American Society of Botanical Artists. This exhibition includes 41 works on paper from international, contemporary botanical artists.

The Oak Spring Garden Foundation is a legacy of the designer, horticulturalist and philanthropist Rachel Lambert “Bunny” Mellon. Mrs. Mellon’s hope was that her extensive collection of rare books, artwork, and other materials relating to plants, gardens, and landscapes could continue to be used for education and inspiration.
