Women Botanical Artists
OSGF seeks to increase recognition of underrepresented voices through our work in the garden and in the volumes in the library. Our first two Google Cultural Institute exhibits celebrate the role women played in the development of botanical art and science. Although critical in the development of modern botany and in providing a rich history of botanical art, the work of these women has often been overlooked.
This is the first project of an ongoing partnership with the Google Cultural Institute to host curated content from our Library exploring a variety of themes relating to plants, gardens and landscapes. We are excited to open up the Oak Spring Garden Library collections to digital examination by the public and to shine a light on under-appreciated voices in history.
