Storage: Head lettuces store for 5 days in the refrigerator if kept in a vented bag (so any remaining wash water can drain out of the bag). Lettuce mixes store for up to 1 week in the refrigerator in an airtight container/bag.

Lettuce mixes are typically sweet and contain various crisp and crunchy salad leaf textures. Lettuce heads are usually prepared as a salad (just like a lettuce mix) – cut the lettuce leaves away from the base of the head and thoroughly rinse with water before eating. If you’re looking for a yummy homemade dressing for your crisp, sweet and tasty lettuce, try combining olive oil and lemon juice in equal parts and stirring in chopped garlic and a pinch of salt, pepper, fennel seed, oregano and thyme. Shake in a teaspoon of honey and pour over your greens. You may choose to finish your salad with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese!

Romaine lettuce may also be grilled – just chop the lettuce head lengthwise, brush with olive oil (or a vinaigrette) all over and throw on the grill. Your romaine will get those nice dark char lines from the high heat of the grill, and remember to grill all sides of your romaine.
