Clifton Brown
Head of Arboriculture, Conservation, and Landscapes
Clif Brown is the Oak Spring Garden Foundation’s Head of Arboriculture, Conservation, and Landscape. He first began working on the property in 1988 for Paul and Rachel “Bunny” Mellon, on what was then known as Rokeby Farms. Clif then became the Tree Department Head Supervisor in 2005 for Oak Spring Farm. Following Mrs. Mellon’s death in 2014, he was hired by the Oak Spring Garden Foundation and received his current job title.
A native of Hume, VA, Clif has called Virginia home all his life. He learns new things every day as he manages the wildlife and grounds at OSGF, and is particularly happy with the bird species that have been growing in numbers on the foundation’s land. He spends his free time with his wife, Melanie, and his daughters, Ashley and Leann.
Being a Virginia boy, Clif’s favorite tree is the Cornus Florida or Flowering Dogwood.
