Christine Harris
Bio-Cultural Conservation Farm Director
Christine Harris is the director of OSGF’s Bio-Cultural Conservation Farm (BCCF). She began working at Oak Spring in May 2019, when the farm was established. A native of Richmond, Virginia, she graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax with a B.S. in Biology and Applied Conservation. Over the past six years, she has worked on various small farms and sustainable agriculture projects in Northern Virginia.
At OSGF, Christine manages the BCCF and its projects, which includes producing fresh, ecologically grown vegetables for the Oak Spring kitchen and local food banks and highlighting the importance of preserving a variety of Appalachian and VA-Piedmont heirlooms and the stories that shape our connections with these plants. In her free time, she likes to hike and camp in the mountains, as well as play in the kitchen cooking with farm vegetables, making ferments, and experimenting with small-batch herbal medicine products. Her favorite plants are the Hawthorn tree and the American Trout Lily.
