Max Smith

Head of Communications

Max Smith is Head of Communications at the Oak Spring Garden Foundation. He joined OSGF as a communications intern in the fall of 2016, before joining the permanent staff at the beginning of 2017. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Max has previously worked as an editorial cartoonist, art director, and magazine editor. He holds a B.A. in journalism from the University of Minnesota’s Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication and an M.S. in communication from Purdue University’s Brian Lamb School of Communication.

At OSGF, Max oversees the Foundation’s overall communications strategy, manages the website, and leads digital outreach projects.  

In his free time, Max enjoys doodling in sketchbooks and on the piano, reading a good book, and over-analyzing movies. His favorite plants are the birch tree and sugar maple – both of which remind him of weekends spent camping in the woods of Wisconsin.
