Ginger Anderson
Education & Outreach Specialist
Ginger Anderson has been OSGF’s Education & Outreach Specialist since she joined the team in July, 2022.
Ginger grew up on a farm in Clearbrook, Virginia, and now calls Winchester home. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Dairy Science and Agriculture Education minor from Virginia Tech. Her previous professional experiences include being a Florist business entrepreneur and Agriculture Education teacher.
At Oak Spring, Ginger educates youth (K-12) on the value and use of plants by hosting on-site workshops at OSGF or by conducting programs at schools and youth centers. She uses the resources of Oak Spring’s landscape to teach hands-on skills related to plants including farming, food production, gardening, the arts, and sustainable management practices. While she’s not teaching, Ginger also helps out at the Biocultural Conservation Farm.
Ginger’s favorite thing to do with her free time is to spend it with her family and friends. She enjoys cooking, traveling, relaxing on her front porch, and observing nature. Her favorite plant is lavender (Lavandula spp.) because of its fragrance, color, and texture. The scent floods her with positive memories of her mom and her children.
